Food Review: Schimpff’s Confectionery Cinnamon Red Hots and Fish Candy
Oh me oh my! I have stepped back down “memory lane” today. To a time when I was 7 years old and visited Schimpff’s Confectionery in Jeffersonville, Indiana. I remember what I wore that day..a bright red coat, and I felt so special and important as I looked at all of the wonderful candies in the display cases at Schimpff’s that day. I remember my dad buying a bunch of the cinnamon red hots and I remember getting a chocolate cross decorated with white chocolate flowers and ribbon on it. But the cinnamon red hots I must admit were my absolute favorite!
I can smell all of the wonderful sweet smells. Oh!…that’s my nose in the candy container right now as I breathe in the scent of the Cinnamon Red Hots.(ha) Schimpff’s Confectionery sent me a surprise package today and… oh be still my beating heart! Oh my gosh these candies smell heavenly! And in my humble opinion they are the best red hot candies ever. Ever!… I tell you!
And the fish candies! Oh these are so fun ! Little hard candy fish in all sorts of colors and flavors. 18 different flavors. What a delight! And they are so
yummy too.
These candies are not like your typical candies. They are so very much better, truly they are. They have a distinct taste of quality and fine ingredients. It’s the type of candy that you cherish and savor in your mouth. None of that chewing and crunching to be done with it .No way…this is candy that you allow to slowly melt in your mouth and that you hope lasts even longer than it does. This is candy that takes you back to yesteryear, down memory lane when you were a little girl..or boy…and when life was full of fun, adventure and the smells of a big candy store filled with all variety of candies and colors. This is the type of candy that you realize isn’t just any type of candy. No..Schimpff’s candy stands apart from the crowd…it is candy that you know in your heart is made with a lot of love, skill ,and a determination to keep traditions alive.
