Ever go through those phases where you look through your home and think to yourself… “Gee, I’d like to change things up a bit, but I’m on a tight budget”, or perhaps you think to yourself…”This place sure could use some fun, yet functional and colorful “punch”

Well, “The Big-Ass Book of Home Decor(Mark Montano/Abrams Books 2010)” just very well may be your home decor solution.

Within the pages of this book you will find so many inspiring, and fun yet functional ideas. As Mark likes to put it “Perfection is overrated.”   I must say that I agree… you will find very few homes in today’s society that are magazine ready, quite the opposite…our homes are more often than not focusing upon comfort and functionality…our quiet retreats from the world. Yet, we do enjoy beauty and surrounding ourselves with it. But if you are like me…often times you are on a budget and can’t typically afford your own personal interior decorator for pointers and advice. So that’s where fun books like this come in handy.

You’ll find ideas for creating your own decorative dinnerware.(Be sure to check out the comic book themed dinnerware!…awesome!)

You’ll find ideas on how to turn your sofa from blah to fab by creating lovely pillows. (I love the butterfly doodle, twisted ribbon, and birdcage pillows!)

You’ll learn how to spruce up your walls by creating fun finishes such as silhouette designs, harlequin wall techniques, even to using a rolling pin to create fun designs.

You’ll find tips on turning your windows into delightful and artful aspects of your home.

Need a bit of fun and whimsy to display throughout your rooms? How about creating a fabric plant?, or butterflies under glass?, or an eagle lady sculpture?

Want ideas for lighting? How about a darling hanging wire and glass votive holder?

You’ll also learn how to create a table using an item from your favorite Chinese takeout place…yes, you guessed it…chopsticks!

Of course I can’t forget to mention the elegant butterfly chandelier idea included in the book also. You’ll want to try your hand at creating it. It is simply lovely, and no one will ever guess that it started its life out as a tomato cage from a garden store!

Now, I can’t give away all of the details encased in this wonderful book, as that would be like telling you all about a movie before you had the chance to see it for yourself..and that’s no fun.

So, I do want to say this… if you are looking for fun yet functional ideas for decor for your home do check out this book. You will be glad you did. There are so many different ideas for so many different styles of homes that you are bound to find something that suits your fancy that is perfect for your home.
