What better way to review a children’s cookbook than to have your children take a look and begin reading the recipes to you of the items that they would love to try out?

With exclamations of, “Mom! This sounds pretty good!… Do we have these ingredients?”  I knew this children’s cookbook, created by Angelique and Aven La Fon Cox, was already receiving rave reviews in our household.

Both my 9 year old “chef to be” and my 5 year old “little pink princess” thoroughly enjoyed looking through the pages of this adorable book… and I did too.

As a mom, it is important to me that the books we have on our book shelves both appeal to my children, and hold their interest… and “Cooking With Kooshla and Saboo” certainly did at that.

I must admit that I was not quite sure how my children would react to a cookbook, but this just isn’t any cookbook. “Cooking with Kooshla And Saboo” features beautiful photography that utilizes miniature hand-crafted teddy bears made in Germany by artist Heike Buchner. None of the teddy bears used in the delightful images are over 5 inches tall!

The little tiny bears of “Bearwood Forest” are posed in delightful scenes depicting them in miniature kitchen scenes around tiny tables with even tinier food items surrounding them. The beauty of the bears will draw you in to the pages of this book. The child in you will find yourself “oohing and ahhing” right alongside your children, and I might even daresay that you may even find yourself grabbing the book from your children just so that you can get a better look at the beautiful teddy bears that make up the cast of characters in the “Bearwood Forest.” (O.k…yes, I gave the book back to them very soon thereafter.)

Not only are the teddy bear images  so very delightful, but the actual food photos look yummy as well.

Now on to the recipes… The recipes are written in a real fun way for kids. Names of the recipes include such things as “Dandy Dumplings and Grizzly Gravy” and “Really Cheesy, Sure to Pleasy, Conqueso Dip.”  The directions for each recipe start with such things as:  “Mum Bear tells you what to do,” or “Kooshla tells you what to do.”

Most of the recipes within the book will need to involve an adult’s supervision, but I feel that is an aspect that actually makes the book all the more special, as it serves to bring families together in the heart of the home… the kitchen.

Sprinkled throughout the book are Bible verses to share with your children as well. Oh, and I mustn’t forget to mention that there is a section in the back of the book devoted to the wee little bears too… baby treats such as “Little Cub Apple Teethers,” to help the wee baby cubs that are teething and a few other recipes devoted to babies.

This is definitely a fun cookbook that you will want to add to your bookshelf.

Our family is already marking the pages of the recipes that we wish to try. I think “Banana -Pecan Huggabear Pancakes ” are first on the list.

“Cooking With Kooshla and Saboo” Is Available through: Authorhouse, Amazon.com, and Barnes and Noble.
