About

Small Town Living is a community of authors, artists, photographers, gardeners and small business owners who all share their particular knowledge and wisdom on topics ranging from homesteading to raising carrots and chickens.

The common thread found in all of our stories is self sufficiency, sustainability, community and ingenuity. We strive to preserve and nuture the best traits to be found in families and small communities where ever we find ourselves. Some of us are raising chickens in the middle of suburban neighborhoods while others are setting up home on the edge of wide open prairies and wilder regions of the country.

You’re welcome to visit, soak in the wonderful stories we have to tell and join in the conversation as a contributor.

Our journey began with Small Town Living Magazine which we started in 2006, we’ve moved to blog form to bring more content on a more regular basis.

Your comments are welcomed and appreciated.

I just found your site thanks to Barbara (Oddest Goddess)we are members of an online group of doll artists. There are many members in the group and while we share an interest in promoting our art the dolls are as varied as their creators. What a pleasure it is to find a place where those of us who live in small towns can find a “pat on the back”…this you normally find reserved for “city dwellers” with a vast difference in life styles and little connection to hand crafts that our ancestors created. Using Barbara as a feature artist shows your interest in keeping hand crafting alive…Thank You….without you a fantastic artist wouldn’t get the recognition she deserves.
